Success stories: Apio marrion

How a  young woman from a difficult background is showing the pathway for other Children with Disabilities

Yes, she can!

Marrion is overcoming her challenges and pursuing her dream of becoming a doctor

When Marrion was young, both her parents passed away, leaving her and her older sister to care for their three younger siblings. It was a challenging childhood.

One day, Marrion’s uncle visited and saw how the five children were living alone, without adults to support them. He took them in, and for the first time, Marrion had the chance to attend school and no longer had to work to provide for her siblings. Life seemed hopeful.

Then, tragedy struck. Marrion injured her knee, leaving her unable to move, and there was no money for surgery. After two years without improvement, Marrion became sad and depressed as her once-bright future grew dim. When we learned of her story, everything changed. After two complex surgeries and months of rehabilitation, Marrion could finally walk again. We then made sure she could return to school, and now, at 18, she dreams of becoming a doctor to help other children in need.

Today, life is smiling once more as Marrion attends St. Kathrine’s Girls’ School with her best friend, Acio Ruth, who has also received treatment and education through our program. Marrion’s story is a testament to the resilience and potential that our support can unlock.
